Do you like your kitchen? According to contractors.com, the kitchen one of the most remodeled rooms in the home. There are a few reasons for that. One is that we lack space. Kitchen counters and cupboards seem to collect clutter faster than anything. Another is that we want more updated appliances and a more modern look. And, for people who are selling their home, a nice kitchen is a huge selling point. If you're feeling like your kitchen lacks the space and pizzazz you're craving, try these tips to make the hub of your home more organized and user friendly.
- If it doesn't belong in the kitchen, take it out!
- Make sure you can walk in a triangle from your fridge, to your stove, to your sink, with no obstacles in the way, like your trash can.
- Go through your refrigerator and cupboards and throw out any of the expired goods that have been hiding in the back. Also, go through your kitchen drawers and get rid of any utensils you don't need.
- Store like items together, ie. baking goods, canned goods, dishes, pots & pans, etc. so they are easier to find.
- Store items where you use them. If you find you always cut your vegetables on a certain counter, keep your cutting boards and knives there. If you bake a lot, make sure all of your baking items are in one area.
- If there isn't a lot of cupboard space, invest in pot rack that you can mount on the wall or from the ceiling to free up some space.
- Lacking counter space? Then keep only the things you use on a daily basis out. Store everything else somewhere else where you can get it when you need it.
- A fresh coat of paint will liven up your kitchen and give it the fresh look you're hungering for.
