An Attitude of Gratitude

November 14, 2007

Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  If you're the host of the Thanksgiving dinner this year, why not take a little stress of yourself by following these five quick Turkey-day tips.

1.  Find out exactly how many people are coming and plan out where you are going to seat everyone so you are sure you'll have enough room and enough food.

2.  Plan what is going to be on the menu.  Go through your pantry and cupboards and find out what you have and what you're going to need.  Also, see if any of your guests are willing to bring a dish so you won't have as much to prepare.

3.  Do your grocery shopping the Monday before Thanksgiving so you're sure you'll have all the fixing's you want and you won't have to fight the crowds of people doing their shopping on Wednesday.

4.  Make a list of chores that need to be done before Thanksgiving Day, then do a few of them each day.  For example, shop on Monday, do some cleaning, etc. on Tuesday, do your baking and other preparations like setting the table on Wednesday so that by Thursday, you'll mostly just be able to relax and enjoy your day.

5. Thanksgiving isn't supposed to be about being stressed out or panicking over how your house looks or anything like that.  So, make sure you and your guests take time just to be thankful for all the wonderful people in your life and the "things" you've been blessed with.
